“The Bow Arm Journey from Pre-twinkle to Book 10 and Beyond”, A Teacher Workshop with Cathryn Lee
Teachers, bring your violin or viola and prepare to meet the Panda! Beginning with the simplest games and exercises for the pre-twinkler, we will take our bow arms on a life-long journey towards the most advanced bowing techniques in the violin literature. Experience the ‘magic’ as we bend our knees and circle, tick-tock land and stop, and jellyfish our way from staccato to sautille.

***PARKING CHANGE*** Because of marching band practice, please park in the front parking lot in front of Rogers Auditorium. Follow the sidewalk outside to the left of the auditorium, enter thru the door to the hallway behind the auditorium, go down the hallway, orchestra room is the last room on the right.

Coffee, etc. There is NO coffee machine or vending nearby. Please bring whatever you require with you.
The “after party”
Participants may join Mrs. Lee for dinner on Saturday evening at 6:30pm at Guru Burger at Sugar Land Town Square, 15958 City Walk, Sugar Land, TX 77479. View restaurant menu here. The cost of dinner is not included in your course fees. The restaurant will allow separate checks for diners in large parties. The restaurant will automatically add gratuity to your check. Parking in the parking garage is recommended. Street parking will be difficult to find.

Pre-Requisites
None. No prior Suzuki Book training or Unit training required.

San Francisco based violin teacher Cathryn S. Lee has taught countless families and teachers around the world since 1976. She is respected for teaching all ages and levels using her detailed and practical “best of both worlds” approach inspired by her studies with Dr. Shinichi Suzuki and her “traditional” studies with concert artist Dame Camilla Wicks.
As a teacher trainer, Cathryn has taught and lectured at SAA National Conferences, Leadership Summits/Retreats, Suzuki Method World Conferences, the first International Suzuki Teacher Trainer Conference in 2009 and most recently at the 16th Suzuki World Convention in 2013. She has given master classes and pedagogy classes in Australia, Canada, England, Italy, Japan, New Zealand and throughout the United States. She is the Artistic Consultant for the Northern California Suzuki Institute. Cathryn is a regular guest lecturer in String Pedagogy at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. She is the author of Bow Exercises, Bow Strokes and the Bow Stroke Excerpts for Violin books.
In 1977, Cathryn founded the Suzuki Music Studio of San Francisco where she continues to teach students and train teachers. Her students have held titled chairs in numerous youth and school orchestras and placed in numerous competitions including the Junior Bach Festival. Cathryn has a B.A. in Performance and Composition, M.A. in Performance from San Francisco College for Women and a teaching certificate from the Talent Education Institute in Japan. She and her husband raised their sons, Whit an actor/violinist in New York City and Corin, a violinist and graduate of Juilliard and Yale University.
