Q. I have taken Stage One. How is Stage Two different and why should I take it?
A. As a life-long learner, it is strongly recommended to continue Suzuki training and deepen your understanding of the philosophy and curriculum. In Stage Two, we will analyze different aspects of the Baby/Toddler class curriculum and goals including new “layers” for stimulating more excitement in classes, and discuss new research and its effect on early childhood education.
Q. I just took Stage One last month. Can I take Stage Two now?
A. No. A period of 9 – 12 months is required before taking the next consecutive stage of training.
Q. I am not currently teaching an SECE class. Can I take Stage Two training?
A. Yes. Upon completion of Stage 1 training, teacher participants are encouraged but not required to gain experience teaching a SECE class before pursuing Stage 2 training. If you have not been teaching the SECE class since Stage One training, please memorize all the action songs and rhymes on the class curriculum CD and review your Stage One course materials before coming to class. If you do not have the material memorized, you will have difficulty leading class activities in the demo classes.
Q. I have already read Nurtured by Love, Ability Development from Age Zero, and the Lullabies, Action Songs and Rhymes booklet. Do I need to read them again?
A. Everyone learns by repetition. It is expected that you will re-read these materials before class. Please also bring them with you to class for a reference.
Q. I have a baby/toddler between 0 and 3. Can they participate in the demo classes?
A. Yes. We welcome your child in the class. Contact us with your child’s name and age and we will let you know if there is available space in the baby/toddler classes. Click here for the baby/toddler registration form.
Q. What should I wear?
A. The demonstration classes are active. Wear something comfortable for moving, dancing and sitting on the floor. Be prepared to remove your shoes during class.
Q. What if I can’t sit on the floor because of an injury?
A. No problem. You may sit on a chair for all the floor activities.
Q. What will we be studying in the class?
A. The Stage Two class delves more deeply into SECE topics.
- Study of the baby/toddler class curriculum and goals
- The importance of the baby/toddler class sequence and key teaching strategies
- Discussion of the skill level of babies and toddlers
- An emphasis on parent education
- An outline of a prenatal music stimulation program for expectant families
- Guides to prenatal resources
- Analysis of flow and balance of the curriculum
- There is a minimum of one written assignment required during this week. (Practice of team teaching)
Q. Should I bring my lunch?
A. You may bring a sack lunch or you may go out to lunch at a nearby restaurant. There will be a 85 minute (1 hour and 15 minute) break for lunch.
Q. What is required after taking Stage Two, before taking Stage Three?
A. SAA requirements are as follows:
- Upon successful completion of Stage 2 training, teacher participants are required to teach a SECE class during the 9 -12-month period before pursuing Stage 3 training. If a teacher has not yet started a class, participants are encouraged to repeat Stage 1 or 2 training before pursuing Stage 3
- A period of 9 – 12 months is required before taking the next consecutive stage of training.
