Suzuki Schedule (updated 10/10/17)

Friday
8:30am – leave from Houston area
11:30am-noon-ish – informal meet up for lunch on the road (lunch not included in tour price)
Location: Collin Street Bakery, 2035 S I-45, Corsicana, Tx 75110 (take exit 229 off I-45 in Corsicana)

(probably followed by a quick visit to the Russell Stover Candy Factory and Store next door)
3:00pm – earliest hotel check-in time (you will get your key from Miss Danette. Do not check-in yourself please)
3:30pm – Dolce Strings rehearsal
4:30pm – add Greenville Suzuki Strings for TWINKLING FIDDLES rehearsal

5:30pm – Dinner in the Conference Room: Pizza Party with Dolce Strings and  Greenville Suzuki Strings (dinner for students and families included with tour price) 
Location: 2nd floor of the Hensons Building, 2716 Lee St., 2nd Floor, Greenville, TX 75401 (next door to the Texan Theater)
7:00pm – walk to the GMA for TWINKLING FIDDLES (group of 10) short program run-thru and performance in the “Pre-Show” before the Threadgill concert (meet to tune downstairs in the City Council Chambers)
—-everyone wears royal blue Dolce Strings shirts
7:35pm – be on the backstage stairs ready to go on stage 

Location: Greenville Municipal Auditorium (GMA) 2821 Washington St., Greenville, TX 75401
7:30pm – attend the Threadgill Series concert – Johnny Bush, Bruce Robison & Kelly Willis – Purchase tickets in advance at “Buy Tickets” via www.showtimeatthegma.com or the GMA box office at 903-457-2994 and have a snack! Support Greenville Suzuki Strings concession sales at the auditorium.
 OR go swimming at the hotel
 OR experience The Haunted Landmark (haunted house) downtown. (Haunted house is open every Friday/Saturday in October)

Saturday
6:00am-10:00am – breakfast served at the hotel

9:00am – Group Photo at the Hunt County Public Art installation art wall. Learn more about this public art installation and matching game “Find Your Match” http://huntcountypublicart.com/findyourmatch/.

9:30am – meet at the outdoor stage for tuning and group photo with Greenville Suzuki Strings
Location: in the street outside Blue Mesquite Grill, 2808 Lee St, Greenville, TX 75401
10:00am – TWINKLING FIDDLES CONCERT (Dolce Strings and Greenville Suzuki Strings) on the outdoor stage in front of The Texan Theater.
10:00am-5:00pm Fiddle Contest (for those participating or observing) Free to observers. Come in anytime and watch as long as you like.

Location: The Texan Theater 2712 Lee St., Greenville, TX 75401
10:30am – walk approx. 6 blocks (or drive) to Greenville Farmer’s Market for our next concert
—–Tour Group changes into black tour group shirts for this concert, everyone else in royal blue shirts
11:00am – Tour Group performance (joined by the rest of our Dolce Strings group for a few pieces)
Location: on the platform in front of “Ain’t Just Pie” Shop at the Greenville Farmer’s Market 2821 Washington Street, Greenville, TX 75401

11:30am – free time! Listen to concerts on the outdoor stage, visit the car show, have a snack and support the Greenville Suzuki Strings Concession Booth outside the Texan Theater, go inside The Texan Theater and watch the Fiddle Contest, shop at the Greenville Farmer’s Market, etc.
12:00pm – lunch – join the group (probably at “Ain’t Just Pie”) or on your own (lunch not included in tour cost)
2:30-5:00pm – Fun and Games, Birthday Party in honor of Dr. Suzuki, and Snacks at the Greenville Sports Park and Aunt Char’s Kid Zone

Location: Greenville Sports Park on Leo Hackney Blvd. at the Corner of Kari Ln. & Sayle St., Greenville, TX 75402
7:00pm: Concert at Soulman’s BBQ, the Tour Group and the rest of our Dolce Group will perform
Location: Soulman’s BBQ 3201 I-30, Greenville, TX 75402 (at the edge of the parking lot of our hotel)

7:30pm – join us for dinner at Soulman’s (dinner not included in tour price)

After dinner: go swimming at the hotel

Sunday
6:00am-10:00am – breakfast served at the hotel
8:30-10:00am – PAJAMA PLAY-IN! Dolce Strings and Greenville Suzuki Strings enjoy a fun group class style review session and play-in. Wear your pajamas, bring your instruments and come ready for a musical story, donuts, and fun! PARENTS – Miss Danette is giving a parent talk for you and the Greenville Suzuki parents while the kids prepare a short mini-concert for you.

Location: Meeting room downstairs at the Best Western Monica Royale
—-after the play-in, change into performance clothes – everyone wears royal blue Dolce Strings shirts 
10:00am – check out of the hotel and go to the GMA

10:40am – TWINKLING FIDDLES (no limit on number of performers) short program run-thru and performance in the “Pre-Show” before the Fiddle Contest Finals (on the steps going up to the backstage area at 10:45am)

11:00am-4:00pm Fiddle Contest Finals (if you are competing or observing)

1:00pm – optional group lunch or just head back to Houston!

Concert Dress: wear blue jeans and boots (if you’ve got ’em) and your ROYAL BLUE Dolce Strings t-shirt.
(if you don’t have cowboy boots, sneakers or closed toe shoes are fine. No sandals, crocs, or flip-flops)
Dolce Strings Tour Group – bring your new black tour group shirt for separate tour group performances
(Greenville Suzuki Strings will wear red GSS shirts and blue jeans for all Twinkling Fiddles performances)

Group Concert Repertoire:
Violins, please check which Suzuki pieces to review in D Major (down one string) to play with the cellos and violas.
Some music & recordings of optional harmony parts are included below. Sheet music can be found in the “Suzuki Duets for Violins” book.
As always in a Suzuki group concert, play the pieces you know and sit down and listen to the ones you don’t!
We anticipate being able to perform all the following repertoire, but some music may have to be cut in the event that the concert is too long. We appreciate your flexibility.

**Your tour cost includes your hotel room for Friday and Saturday night (with indoor pool and breakfast Saturday and Sunday mornings), rehearsals, four featured concerts at Bob Wills Fiddle Festival venues, impromptu concerts, dinner Friday night, Suzuki’s Birthday Party and snacks on Saturday afternoon, trip goodie bag for all performers including sunglasses for Milk Cow Blues, Greenville historic Haunted House admission, Sunday morning Pajama Play-In, souvenir group photo, and all the fiddletastic fun we can pack into the weekend!
